Freshman Course | Alt. Freshman Course | Sophomore Course

The Alternate Freshman course is based on the Kammerlander kit, Duke William. This is a German kit which can be purchased from Across The Pond. This kit features a very unique method of construction. Maple strips are bent across a plaster mold which is included in the kit. The strips are first soaked in water and then as they are being bent across the mold, a special soldering iron is used to press the strips down and dry them out. This makes the shape permanent and thus the hull is hollow like a plank on frame model.

This course is meant for new modelers and shows how to build the model straight out of the box without any modification to the design of the kit. Masting and rigging are covered and there is an optional sail package available for the kit. And we provide a private forum area on our website forum just for Duke William customers so that they can get assistance at any time.

This course comes on CD and contains 7 chapters. An optional set of two photo CD's is also available. The photo CD's contain all of the photos in the course for chapters 1 - 7. To read a sample chapter, click here.
