Our CAD practicum demonstrates the use of CAD to develop a set of working model ship plans from original ship drawings. Although the practicum demonstrations are with AutoCAD, most any CAD software can be used. The practicum includes numerous video clips demonstrating how to import original ship drawings, how to scale them and make them more accurate, how to loft frames, create waterline drawings and more. All you will need is a CAD program and an art program. Many good art programs are available on the web including some very good programs that are free.
