The HMS Kingfisher kit will be our third true plank on frame kit in the Craftsman style. The kit is based on the plans drawn by David Antscherl with his permission. This kit will be the first of its kind anywhere because we are designing this kit as accurately as possible so that the details of this Swan class ship are historically correct. The two drawings above are of a Navy Board model of the Kingfisher in the Naval Science Museum in London, England. The other photo shows the actual framework of a Swan class ship. This model was built from scratch by Greg Herbert. We are working closely with Greg and David on the design of this kit.

The Kingfisher kit is made mostly of boxwood in 1/4" scale (24" long) and is designed to be an historically correct representation of the ship. The kit has nearly 2000 individual CNC milled parts and all details from the upper deck upward are included in the kit. The cannons, swivel cannons, carvings and other details are resin cast. A set of photo etched parts are also included for smaller details.

The kit includes original printed plans, a full color practicum on CD, several photo CD's with all of the photos taken of the prototype while it was being built. A special jig is included that holds the framework in perfect alignment and in the upright position while framing the model. And a supplemental practicum covering masting and rigging will be released later in 2008. To see photos of the prototype for this kit click here.
