Detailed Guide to Scratch Building

With the recent release of Volumes XI and XII of my Detailed Guide to Building Model Ships, I will now begin work on a second guide, the Detailed Guide to Scratch Building Model Ships. This guide will contain the following volumes:

Volume I - CAD Work

Volume II - Making the Keel, Stem, Sternpost

Volume III - Making Frames

Volume IV - Making a Framing Jig

Volume V - Framing the Model

Volume VI - Outer Hull Planking

Volume VII - Lower Deck Details

Volume VIII - Framing the Decks

Volume IX - Main Deck Furniture

Volume X - Outer Hull Details

With over 30 years of model shipbuilding experience, I feel uniquely qualified to write about my experience in the field of scratch Building model ships. I have built numerous true plank on frame models over the years and have developed, produced, and built 5 different true plank on frame kits. I will be sharing my knowledge and experience in this 10 volume set.

Like my guide on building model ship kits, this guide will also be spiral bound, printed in full color on glossy paper. The price per volume will depend on the number of pages in each volume and will vary. Pricing will be similar to my kit building guide and I will continue to offer free shipping on this new guide through the use of a coupon code.

This will probably be my final set of practicums on model shipbuilding. I plan to semi-retire after these books have been released. Of course, I will continue to serve the ship modeling community by offering all of my practicums for sale on my website. I just won't be building any more model ships or writing any more practicums. I don't think there's much else I can write about as far as model shipbuilding is concerned, once these books have been released. I will have covered every aspect of model shipbuilding that I know about with the release of these new books.

If you have any questions or comments about this new series, just let me know. If I've missed a topic you'd like for me to cover, just let me know.

Thanks for your support,

Bob Hunt
