This Sophomore Course is based on the Caldercraft kit, HM Bark Endeavour. This course consists of 12 chapters and covers the complete construction of the hull with deck furniture, ship's boats and all painting. We hope to release a separate Masting and Rigging course in the near future.

This course is ideal for modelers with some model shipbuilding experience. Because of the complexity of the model, there is much more to construct and thus, much more is covered in the course.

No modifications are made to the design of the kit. The lower hulls and much of the trim work and deck furniture are painted. The course also goes into detail on improving the looks and details of the ship's boats. The book Anatomy of the Ship, HM Bark Endeavour was the main point of reference for these details.

With this course, the modeler will learn how to double plank a model ship, how to build deck furniture, how to make ship's boats and much more. The optional Masting, Rigging, and Sail Making Course will teach the modeler more complexities to making masts and spars that are historically correct, how to make realistic scale sails that look historically correct using Silkspan, and how to completely rig a model ship with sails. Again, that course should be available in a few months.

The course teaches many of the basics of model ship building as well as more complex techniques and is a stepping stone to kit bashing and even more complex models.

The course comes on a CD. The chapters can be printed out by the customer and put in a 3 ring binder, or you can take the CD to an office supply store such as Staples or Office Max and have them print the chatpers for you.

The optional Photo CD contains all of the original photos taken when the model was built by Bob. Photos on this optional CD are much larger than those that appear in the course chapters and can be viewed on your computer screen showing greater details than may appear on the printed pages. The Photo CD cannot be purchased separately.
