This Prep School Course is based on the Artesania Latina kit, Swift. The kit shown in the photo is the version you want to buy. Artesania Latina recently updated the kit taking out the second layer of planking and the below deck details and painting it instead of leaving it in natural wood. The kit shown in the 1st photo can still be found on certain websites if you search for it but most often it can be found on eBay under wooden model ship kits. Just search eBay for "Swift model ship kit". There are photos above of other versions of the kit that I've been told will work with this practicum, howeveer, I recommend you find the original kit to exploit the resources of the current practicum. In other words, please make sure you have the original kir or the practicum may not work for you.
This course consists of 8 chapters and covers the complete construction of the kit including masting and rigging. It is ideal for modelers with little or no model shipbuilding experience.
No modifications are made to the design of the kit. The hull planking consists of two layers. The hull is left natural. With this course, the modeler will learn how to plank the hull of the model ship, how to build deck furniture, masts and spars, and how to do simple rigging. The course teaches many of the basics of model shipbuidling and is a stepping stone to more complex models.
